W Trout & Son was first established in wooden boat building and repairing in 1902. The first projects were salmon boats for the fishermen of the River Exe and repair work to the coasters, which stopped at Topsham Quay.

Since 1902 the business has developed from commercial boat building to building for the leisure market and repairs. The skills have been past down through the generations of the family and their employees.
