Keel & Hull - Repair
- Services: GRP and Gelcoat | Paints & Varnishes | Metalwork - Steel & Stainless | Chandlery
The yacht arrived with significant keel damage after heavy ground contact. The vessel was hauled out, the hull was supported, and the yacht was moved into the workshop for a full assessment of the keel, root, and surrounding laminate. With the vessel secure, the damaged areas were marked up and the repair plan confirmed before structural work began.
The keel was removed to allow a complete inspection. Internally, the keel bolts were extracted and the affected structure opened up so the damaged laminate and bedding could be repaired properly. The internal structure was rebuilt, strength around the keel matrix reinstated, and both mating faces prepared for reassembly to ensure a true fit.
Once the structure was sound, the keel and hull were reattached, torqued, and sealed, then faired to restore the original profile. The exterior was finished and checked for alignment and integrity before returning the yacht to service. The result is a solid, watertight repair with the keel properly seated and the hull back to full structural strength.
