The Bristol Pilot Cutter Pegasus arrived at Trouts Boatyard with damage to the aft port quarter bulwark that required professional repair. Our team carried out the necessary work to restore the affected area, ensuring the vessel could return to service in sound and seaworthy condition.
Pegasus is a 60ft Bristol Pilot Cutter built by the Bristol Classic Boat Company for The Island Trust. The Trust, an Exeter-based charity, has been providing disadvantaged young people with sailing opportunities—both in dinghies and offshore—for more than 36 years.
Following the tradition of the renowned Bristol Pilot Cutters, Pegasus is known for her elegance and impressive performance. She has a strong reputation on the water, having won a leg of the Tall Ships Race in her class and securing second place overall in the same season.
In addition to operating Pegasus, The Island Trust continues its work with young people through dinghy sailing programmes in Salcombe. These activities are based on the converted Mersey Ferry, the Egremont, which is owned by the Island Cruising Club.
The repair to Pegasus’s bulwark was completed to a high standard, preserving the vessel’s strength, appearance, and ongoing role in the Trust’s valuable work.
